A Christmas story

I usually don't post this kind of thing here, but I read this again today and it still makes me laugh. Mostly because I see so much of Aaryk and I in it.

(I hope no one is offended by the title!)

The Crap Tree

I commented on it there, but I'll tell you all here too. See we’re pretty much the opposite of Dave and his wife. If Aaryk had his way, we’d have the white lights and ‘nice’ ornaments. He doesn’t mind the hand-made and kid ones so much, but draws the line with kitsch. He rolls his eyes every year when, as he’s stringing the lights (which has always been the 'man' job at our house) he comes across the lone chili pepper light cover. But the one that just maked him shake his head at me is my light up USS Enterprise D. Apparently Star Trek and Christmas just don’t go together in his ‘white light’ world.

But, thankfully, he understands my need to have all my Christmas memories out on the tree and puts up with it. Until January 2nd anyway. Because one of the few traditions he brought with him into adulthood is that the tree goes up on Christmas Eve and comes down on January 2. Ours goes up a bit sooner than that usually, but not much.

It just made me think back to Christmases past, and how very glad I am that my family were all 'colored lights' folk! ;)

too good not to share!

A friend sent this to me today, and as she said, "better late than never!"

It's a good one-

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just wanted to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving, and to let you know that we haven't floated downstream in all this rain! It's been quite the couple of days here with nearly non-stop rain and flooding. Since it made national news I thought I'd just let you all know that we are fine. Staying inside as much as possible, although it's been a bit challenging to get Percy to go outside to 'do his 'business'.

My other news is that as of today I am once again gainfully employed! I interviewed at Joann's Crafts today and I start on Monday. It's seasonal to start, but they have a manager spot open and I plan to 'wow' them over the next month so we'll see where it goes from there!

The trick will be not spending my entire paycheck at the store!

Blog Email Updates

Hey all!

I just discovered a nifty feature for my blog.  I know I don't post on a regular basis at this point, and that makes it hard to remember to check for new news.

I can set up a system here that will email you when I have something new posted.  It's automatic through Blogger, I just need to put in your email.  If you are interested in being emailed when I post news here, just let me know, either through the comments here or drop me an email.  I won't add anyone without their permission.

I thought it was a neat service and one that would make sure that everyone is able to keep up-to-date with our goings on.

Just let me know if you want to be on the list!

(p.s. I'm writing this entry from my email, another nifty feature of Blogger!)

Say hello to Percy!

We drove to Kentucky on Friday to see about getting a dog. Saturday, we brought home our little Percival (Percy for short)!

I'll tell you all about our whirlwind trip another time!
